Ohana Steel Buildings was born in Hawaii, shaped by the years Kathy spent living in Haiku and working throughout Maui’s communities. From supporting operations at the observatory and computer center in Kihei to running a successful maintenance company on the west side, her deep connection to the islands laid the foundation for what Ohana would become. She began selling steel buildings in 2006 while living in Haiku, and that island‑grown commitment to service, accuracy, and community has defined the company ever since. Today, as the new owner of Ohana Steel Buildings, I’m proud to carry forward the legacy she built. Although part of my heart will always belong to Hawaii — and I visit often to stay connected with friends, customers, and the island community — I chose to base operations in Wyoming to be close to my own family and support network. Hawaii remains the soul of our business, and every project we ship to the islands reflects the roots and values that started it all.
Ohana steel buildings has been a member of the Better Business Bureau of since 2015. We have a BBB A+ rating which ensures your purchase is safe.
1. The first step is to decide on a building design. This can be done several ways. Customers can use the ACT building designer available from the Home page clicking on the "Design your building using ACT" button. You can use the contact form at the bottom of the Home page, or you can email a sketch of your building to Sales@ohanasteelbuildings.com.
2. Once the design is complete, purchase documents are prepared that require completion of all the customer information, standard terms and conditions of sale review, product information and selection pages for colors and door openings.
3. When the purchase documents are completed and 20% of the total price is paid, the building project is officially underway. Structural drawings and calculations stamped by a Hawaii State licensed structural engineer are ordered and typically arrive via email within 10 days.
4. At this point, it is up to the customer whether they want to order the building components right away, or wait for the permitting process to be completed. In either event, when the final 80% is paid, the building components are ordered and sent to fabrication. It takes about 4 weeks for fabrication. After fabrication, all the manufactures send your building components: steel, fasteners, personal and roll-up doors to your jobsite.
Yes, our structural drawings and calculations are digitally signed by a licensed structural engineer. Files are delivered electronically typically within 10 days of purchase. When the building components are ordered, you will receive a complete inventory list and a construction package. The stamped plans, the inventory list and the construction package are all used together to understand erecting your building. The instruction manuals are available from us after your building is ordered.
We make use of a freight consolidator in California. The steel, doors, insulation and fasteners are ordered to come out of fabrication and reach the freight consolidator at the same time. The building components are safely packed in a container which is brought directly to your truck accessible Hawaiian job site. Shipping is included in the quoted price.
